Majo Orellana played Beach volleyball for the Guatemalan National Team.  She qualified and competed in 4 Panam Games since 2015, placing one 5th and two ninths. Qualified to the Wold Championships in Netherlands in 2015 with her little sister Mandi. Started playing the AVP Tour at the end of the 2016 Season qualifying to the main draw on her second event.  Majo and her sister competed in the Continental Cup for Olympic qualification and fell one spot short to advance to the last round. As a player and a coach she has learned from some of the top coaches in the US and internationally, giving her a broad spectrum of different systems and techniques. Coach Majo was nominated "Assistant Coach of the Year" in 2021 by the AVCA.

 

As a coach, Majo founded the first Beach Volleyball Club in Central America.  In 2012 she coached at the Youth World Championships in Cyprus for Guatemala. She was hired and moved to San Diego to coach.  Created the College Prep Program in 2014 for SD Beach, and since then she has placed over 30 athletes in Division 1 Beach Volleyball Teams, working together with the athletes, parents and coaches. From the end of 2014 to December 2016, she was the Executive Director for SD Beach, and lead the Club to be the overall Club Champions at the 2016 BVCA,  AAU Power League Club Champions, and several individual top 5 finishes in Junior Olympics, Junior Nationals, CBVA Tour Stop. SD Beach top team, Muret/Filippone won the USAV Hight Performance Trials and Placed 5th in the Youth World Championships in 2016.

In 2017 she started running the Beach Program at Coast Volleyball Club.  Majo has been coaching high level athletes that are part of the USA Beach HP programs in the U15, U17 and U19, one of them Megan Kraft who will represent USA in the 2018 U19 World Championships in China.

Majo is an entrepreneur founder of MGT Greatness Training, she  is partnered with one of the top gyms in the area, Jackson Strength, where she programs and coaches international athletes with their Online Distance Training Program.

 

Has been certified and a lecturer for the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece, Women in Sports Organization, Fair Play and Sport Management for the Guatemalan Olympic Committee.  She has USA Volleyball and FIVB Coaching Certifications. Majo has a Bachelor degree in Marketing from the Universidad Landivar in Guatemala.

 

She actually lives in Encinitas, California, loves to eat healthy, learn, read be outdoors, and play at Moonlight Beach on the weekends.  Trains to represent Guatemala and for the AVP. Loves to travel to visit family in Guatemala, friends and to play volleyball. Majo hast two sisters, Nora Maria and Mandi, and her parents that live in Guatemala Julio and Nora.
